WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IN DIDACTICS?

Well, it is a very difficult question, because it could refer about what have you learn (theory) and also what have you learn (practical) but it also could be as: what have you learn (far away of the lessons, for example, organization, talking to the group, express your opinion or point of view,… there are several things that are inside the class but we don’t know it).

In this post, I would talk about those three things and tell my point of view of each part and my experience when I was in the school.

Firstly I will summary you what I have learn (theory) at class. At the moment, I have learned a lot of things that I don’t really know how I have done it. I am impressive how I have learned the difference between LOE and LOMCE and what the curriculum is (IT IS NOT THE CURRICULUM THAT YOU TAKE TO GET A JOB). It is also true that the firsts lessons I was a little bit lose, but one day our teacher had made the best summary (diagram) of curriculum I have ever seen. With this scheme I had understand perfectly the different levels that curriculum has and what is inside of each level.

Continuing with the theory we have also learn the different point of view that some philosopher had about education and how we had to teach. All of each are in the truth, but it also depend in the era they had life.
In my opinion we all have to know what the curriculum is and we should applied it in our life and in our future when we will be teachers. That will be so useful for us to make better classes. I think that we should heed about what curriculum say to us and we can take things of this philosopher, for example, how to organize your classroom, this will be so helpful to your students. You have to make your classes as practical as you can and do it in groups because like that they have more participation and they could talk more each other and they will work better. For this reason is important to have prepared you classes at home and look over it the previous they. I have one thing clear since I was a child (and more now because I am a swimming pool teacher) and it is that the best way to learn is playing and having a good time, because the relationship between student and teacher is closer and they learn more like that.

Secondly I am going to talk about the practical class we had made. Our teacher put us a context that if we had 25 students with 11 nationalities and not all of them speak and understand the same language, what we have to do to explain it the units, the tens, to add and to subtract. We had made it in groups of 4 or 5 people each (I had say before that is one of the best way to teach and learn). When we had talk about it we had to explain and do it for the class, we could use whatever we want and need. This class was awesome because all we learn that the language didn’t have to be the problem the case is to do it as practical as we could and that child could participate as much as they could.

I had said it inside but I am going to put in here. I think to work in smalls groups is better to improve the conversation and participation of the student. Here we had the motivation that after we talk the solution in the group we had to do it to all the class and think that they were our students, it was so funny and interesting; we all had done it awesome and special. Here we saw the different points of view and forms to teach.
Finally I want to say that we are learning a lot of different things without knowing it, is something involuntary. We are learning how to express and include your thoughts to the group. We are also learning to be patient in learning things. Although we are learning to talk in the small group we also are doing it in the big group, to talk to all the class. We have also made more things but I had to remark that kinds of things that have improve and mature me. I will tell more of it in next post I promise I will make for you guys.

Doing all that kinds of thing I can remember my TAFAD classes of ADG (administración y dirección de grupos) where we had to work in groups and made activities for the rest of the classes (games for knowing each other in the firsts day, to had good time, etc.) it was awesome to return your mind to that kind of classes where I learn a lot about how to manage groups and child. We also go outside the class to change the place and make it more interesting and it have a good result. This teacher was brilliant (she was my tutor in second of TAFAD) I have her phone number and we meet sometimes to tell us how our lives are, the way of teaching, problems she and me have nowadays with our students… she was very close to us. I have her method of teaching, she is my reference.

  1. It is a good reflection on your learning process. We all walk through a path to reach the same goal: the knowledge. When you reflect on your own learning you get deep understanding of you as a learner and this allows you to build your knowledge. We should as a teacher be a guide who offers different ways to reach it. But the student has to follow one of them and dicover it in colaborations with others. Learning is a social task and takes place trough experience.
    Keep doing so good.
